Job Description for Data Analyst
FUNCTION: Data Analyst to serve on a collaborative team that uses health care claims and survey data to conduct data management and analyses on behalf of our clients. The Data Analyst will support our contracts with major federal agencies, states, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This position requires quantitative skills, working with large databases, and attention to details. By providing data analysis, complete documentation, clear communication, and accurate analyses, datasets, and reports you will contribute to our mission of improving public health worldwide.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyzes specifications, formulates programming approaches, and consults with clients to clarify requirements.
- Analyzes incoming data to ensure compliance with the required technical specifications and quality standards for various health care research initiatives.
- Collaborates with data submitters and the client to manage all data intake. This involves communicating corrections and recommending any remediation to improve the data analytical value.
- Utilizes Microsoft SQL Server and SAS to perform data manipulation and generate statistical reports.
- Tracks estimates of cost and time for assigned tasks and activities.
- Provides complete and thorough documentation; investigates existing databases; researches data anomalies, and constructs subset data bases and data files. Provides input to progress reports for assigned tasks.
- Performs additional duties as required.
B.S. or M.S. degree in computer sciences, health sciences, or other related field. Three to five years of SAS and SQL programming experience. Experience with health care data management is highly desirable. Must have familiarity with relational databases and electronic data capture systems. Required to have excellent communication skills, strong analytic and quantitative skills, and attention to details. Able to work well in team environment and independently.
